What started out as an interesting idea between two waiters and friends waiting on their Bar exam results to become lawyers nearly a decade ago is now a bar. Consider yourself served.

Courthouse Brew Co. will hold its grand opening on Friday, Sept. 29, at the Whittall Mill Complex in Worcester, 3 Brussels St., Suite 120. Doors open at 4 p.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony featuring Mayor Joseph Petty at 4:30. A food truck will be on hand. The brewery opened over the summer to limited hours.

Founders Daniel Whalen and Mark Gawlak are Worcester natives whose friendship and love for beer goes back decades, Gawlaw said.

Their first idea for a beer, Attractive Nuisance — a pineapple, lactose, and cinnamon-infused fruited IPA — will be on tap along with seven other selections.

Those include:

  • Strict Scrutiny — A Red Ale with notes of brioche and toffee
  • Re Galaxy —A single hop IPA with notes of tropical fruit and pine
  • Next Of Kin — A DIPA that features notes of citrus and pine
  • Flight Risk — A fruited IPA with kiwi, strawberry, and passionfruit
  • Collaborative Agreement — A brown ale with coffee and molasses
  • Treble Damages — New England IPA with notes of mango and papaya.
